Act II's sentimental sexual-tension building Penny's Song has now been transcribed, it has a nice and easy "Seasons of Love"(Rent)/"What's going to happen"(Scrubs) feel to it. The opening chords are the same to "Will You Lend a Hand" sung by Penny in Act I, it wasn't long enough song for me to transcribe, but I was glad the theme was reprised in Act II there are certainly good elements of musical theater in this show.

Here's a story of a girl who grew up lost and lonely,

thinking love was fairytale and trouble was made only for me.

Even in the darkness, every color can be found,

Grief replaced with pity for a city barely copin'.

Dreams are easy to achieve if hope is all I'm hopin' to be.

Anytime you're hurt there's one who has it worse around,

and every drop of rain will keep you growing

seeds you're sowing in the ground.

So keep your head up, Billy buddy.
lyrics correction?
I think the line here in in "Penny's Song" is
"Dreams are easy to achieve if hope is all I've hoped it to be" or possibly "if hope is all I hope it to be" -- it makes more sense with that parallel, especially for a Joss Whedon lyric. :)
I thought it was "if hope is
I thought it was "if hope is all I'm hopin' to be".
Even Better
This is the best I've heard for the line, thanks
Agreed
I agree, and that's what my gut tells me but everytime I listen to it it doesn't sound like "hoped it" it sounds like an 'n' sound in there but I'll correct it with that anyway
simple melody line
The melody line's simple to play & also great to sing along with;
For the 1st stanza, 1st line:
E E G-E, D-C-D, C D-D D-C E-C...
Second line: repeat 1st line, add this to the end: B-A
For the 2nd stanza, 1st line:
E-D E-D E-D C D E D E G C
2nd line: Repeat, add this to the end: A
Repeat each for the next 2 stanzas, then end with "So keep your head up, Billy Buddy":
C, E E G E, D-C E-C

FM7 doesn't sound right to me. Does anyone substitute another chord?
